Edwin Jeans

We reckon Mr Tsunemi would have been a great man to meet. Not only did he manufacture his own jeans to fill a hole in the Japanese market at the time but also influenced every denim brand in existence today by developing the first 'old' wash and inventing stone-washing.

Now, Mr Tsunemi was around at a time when decent denim was produced solely in the United States. Mr Tsunemi imported this US denim- laundered and mended it by hand and then sold on to his customers.

By 1951 the first locally produced jeans were being made in Japan, in comparison to the imported US it just didnt cut the mustard. Mr Tsunemi decided to create his own jeans with more focus on quality and fit. The rest is pretty much history - by re-arranging the letters of d.e.n.i.m and flipping the 'm' Mr Tsunemi created his first pair of Edwin Jeans.

By 1963 Edwin Jeans had produced the world's heaviest ringspun denim jean at 16oz. This jean featured the now famous 3-colour Rainbow Selvedge that is still available today on Edwin's premium denim range.

Now, as then, quality and fit are at the forefront of the brand. The Edwin ED-55 is a best seller in-store and for the denim purists we carry a selection of Edwin's Selvedge line too.
